Need Help?

Frequently Asked questions

  • Where can I get an oil change?

Depending on your preferences, you have a few options to get your oil changed. You can either go to your vehicle dealership, a reliable, independent local auto mechanic shop, or one of the big-name service stations.

  • What do I need to do when my change engine oil light comes on?

There are a few things you can do right away to troubleshoot this. Check to make sure your gas cap is tightly secured because if it is loose, it can trigger the check engine light. If this doesn’t solve the problem, try reducing the size of your carload. Smaller cars can be overtaxed with a heavy load, leading to a loss of power. If these tips don’t solve the problem, the number one thing is to bring it into our auto repair shop so we can perform a diagnostic test.

  • How often do I need a tune-up?

The golden standard for tune-ups will differ based on a few variables: the vehicle’s age and how often you drive it. Generally speaking, if you drive an older car containing a non-electronic ignition, getting a tune-up every 30,000-45,000 miles is recommended. For newer vehicles with electronic ignition, you can drive between 25,000 and 100,000 before a tune-up.

  • How often should I change my oil?

Oil change intervals will differ based on vehicle age, the type of oil used, and driving conditionsWe recommend having your oil changed after 3,000 to 5,000 miles or every 90 days, whichever comes first.

  • When should I get my tires rotated?

The general recommendation for rotating tires is between 5,000 - 8,000 miles or at least every six months. However, all tire brands are made differently, with some built to last longer than others, so it is best the check with the tire manufacturer for a more precise answer.

  • How often should I check my tire pressure?

Always give your tires a quick check before getting into your vehicle and every few visits to the gas station. If you aren’t checking your tires regularly, it is recommended that you check the pressure no more than once a month.

  • How do I know when I need new brakes?

The clearest indicator that you need new brakes is when you hear an unusual sound, such as a high-pitch squeak or squeal when you step on the brake pad. If this issue goes unresolved for too long, you will notice a grinding sound similar to metal scraping against metal when you step on the brake. The most extreme indication is if you begin to experience an increase in stopping distance which indicates warped rotors.

  • How often should I have my brakes checked?

To prevent excessive wear and tear on your brakes, it is recommended that you schedule a brake check every 10,000 miles. You can also ask your auto mechanic to perform a basic inspection of the brake pads at each oil change or regular check-ups.

  • Why are my brakes squealing? How can I stop it?

Your brake squealing can be due to a rusted rotor, worn brake pads, or you’re braking too hard. We recommend bringing your vehicle to a licensed mechanic shop to have them perform a thorough diagnostic. They will offer you a solution for repairing your brakes.

  • How long do repairs usually take?

The average repair time is 12 days, but this depends on the repair needed. Some repairs can take one day, whereas others can take a few weeks. You will always be given a turnaround time following your vehicle diagnostic.

  • How do I get a quote?

To get a quote, give Precision Axle Repair Ltd a call to receive an estimate of the projected cost and service plan.

  • What types of vehicles do you service?

We offer a full range of automotive services and work on all makes and models, domestic and import.
